Marble Vase from India
This handcrafted marble vase typical of the Royal City of Jaipur, Rajasthan, in Northern India was made in a government school established to support new artists and their work. This enables young people, who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity, to create, show and sell their wares. At this institution, they are given a fair value for what they produce. Once the marble is carved, the designs are imprinted with pure gold leaf, then further embellished with pure gold polish and colors, then lacquered and studded with crystals. This is a true showpiece. It stands 14" high, 7.5" in diameter, and weighs 4.5 lbs.
